The Vibes Are Upbeat at No Fun Lo-Fi Bar
An upbeat nightlife is the hallmark of a youthful experience. For the extroverts in us, and introverts on those rare occasions, we crave a night out, filled with music, energy, and ideally good people. On a recent visit to Buffalo’s Elmwood Village neighborhood, I found a subtle bar that was spinning vinyl, had a petite dance floor, and was in a small hut that looked like some sort of backyard cottage. It was a unique place behind High Violet, another well known Buffalo cocktail lounge. This venue is called No Fun Lo-Fi Bar, and from the road it can be an easy spot to miss if you don’t know where to look. That gives it a cool unassuming vibe if you know what I mean.
No Fun Lo-Fi bar can be found directly behind, High Violet, another well known elevated cocktail lounge in Buffalo, New York. No Fun Lo-Fi bar is a lowkey spot that features live vinyl and digital DJ performances, and it is truly an intimate space, with a tremendous amount of patio seating. If you go on a slow night, you might find local DJs and music enthusiast spinning vinyls or sampling music. While the space is small, it makes for a cool interpersonal dance floor where you can groove out to the sounds of pop-up DJs, locals, or traveling artists. Show up on a weekend, and you’re likely going to experience a thrilling show where touring DJs are keeping the energy lively, and the tracks upbeat.
Lounging in the patio of the bar with a group of friends, or a date is probably one of the more chill things to do if you’re around to just vibe the music. There is plenty of seating, and spaces to hang out. This is arguably the best way to experience the night if you’re just looking to hang out without fulling immersing in the party. You can grab a red or white wine, and sip to the sounds of Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi music. As far as the drinks go, the menu is fairly simple. You can grab a red or white wine, nothing thrilling in terms of wines, or you can grab some other standard simple cocktails, and a handful selection of beers. Not the best selection, but it’s a fair selection if you’re mainly there to hang out and enjoy the beats.
No Fun Lo-Fi bar is unique in its size, in the vibes its putting out, and as a great third space for anyone looking to drop by an open set night where you can spin your own vinyl. It is also a great place to gather with friends to enjoy a nice warm evening out, or a warm sunny day.
