Growing up, I was always a fan of musicals like Cabaret, the Broadway show set in Berlin, Germany, at the sunset of the Jazz era, during the rise of fascism. I was drawn to the wonder of the iconic Moulin Rouge, with its famed windmill, and cabaret acts performed by Parisian troupes. For these reasons, when I learned about a local group of performers known for their love of cosplay, costumes, pop culture, cinema, and who hosted a dynamic performance, I was thrilled to catch a performance while the Sirens and Stilettos Cabaret were in the neighborhood.
