The New Buffalo AKG Art Museum Is a Must See!
The original art gallery, which came to be known as the Albright-Knox Art Gallery on the Buffalo AKG Art Museum’s campus in Buffalo, NY.
On June 12, 2023, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum made its dynamic debut into the art world. This accomplishment was the result of more than a decade-long vision that required strategic planning, collaborative partnerships, capital campaigns, and numerous board meetings to approve an expansion on the historical campus grounds.
The Buffalo AKG Art Museum, previously known as the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, is considered one of the oldest galleries in the nation; it first opened as the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy (BFAA) on November 11, 1862.

Since the dedication of the art galleries campus in 1905, the space has shifted and changed over the years. Sections have been added to expand on art education, classrooms, and the addition of exhibit gallery spaces. The most recent change is the addition of their new, intricate, and modern glass building built on the northwest side of the campus, and the name change from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery to Buffalo AKG Art Museum.
