If you’ve ever been to Nashville, then you know that Broadway is the place to be if you’re traveling through for a long weekend, and especially if you’re a fan of Country Rock, Country Pop covers, Southern Rock music, a buzzing late-night party scene, cowboy hats, bachelorette parties, bar crawls, and living it up at the wild honky tonk bars. It can be a fun time, but it’s not for everyone. If you’re traveling through Nashville but looking to catch a different type of energy, it can be challenging to find the right venue that caters to an audience with different music taste, especially when you’re hanging around downtown.

The 5 Spot in East Nashville is a different type of music venue, one that feels more like a neighborhood dive bar that the locals hit up for more affordable craft beers, cool touring bands, and to support Nashville-based artists. The bar’s aesthetics include dim and twinkling lights, a low stage, a long bar, posters layered like old mixtape stickers, local beers, and a small coat rack for god knows who (I used it).

On any given night, you might walk into a garage-rock band shredding, a soulful group singing out, an indie-country set, or a dance party going off. Like I said, this spot is eclectic. So, if you’re looking to find a venue with the type of vibe that brings in more diverse styles of music, then you’re going to want to head to the Five Points neighborhood in East Nashville.

The 5 Spot is a local gem, which makes sense; it’s unique, it’s not pandering to tourists, and people are undoubtedly doing their own thing. It’s a great place to crowd-watch and learn more about the current trends flourishing in East Nashville. It’s truly a fascinating experience catching some of the country’s most talented and underrated artists performing live across the stage. Nashville’s talented artists seem endless.

All in all, don’t expect the 5 Spot to be a polished bar. It’s bold, yet casual, intimate, yet eclectic in all the right ways, and at the end of the night, it’s one of the most unique music venues in Nashville, Tennessee, and it rules.
